Configuring SNMP |
|
|
I have been configuring numerous switches and routers for SNMP access.
On a BLN for instance, I configured a RO community and made sure that it was
enabled.
My management software keeps returning a "No response to SNMP Requests"
error message.
Am I missing something? Do I need to specify a trap receiver? Currently, the
devices have the default (0.0.0.0) trap receiver settings.
I'm getting the same error message on numerous other routers as well,
including AN's, Passport 2430's and ASN's.
This is a first for me and I need to make sure I get it right the first
time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Assuming you're using Site Manager, you need to supply the RW community name |
to do anything productive.

Re: Configuring SNMP |

Add a manager address in it.
to allow all:
Protocols/ip/snmp/communities. Select the commity and select managers on
the menu.
At that point you can configure the manager.

Sam
The management software only requires RO access. I have also created a RO |
community name. |

Thanks. Do you see any problems with a manager address of 0.0.0.0 ? |

Nope, it just means that everybody is a potential manager. So no security |
