ILS with NT-Server |
|
|
Hi,
i have installed a ILS under NT-Server. Works fine so far. But ther will be
no symbols for camera and audio. Everybody can logon to the ILS but on every
entry on the ILS the colum which shows normaly cam/audio capability is
blank. No dash or so. Only blank.
The NM-Clients have both, cam and audy installed and on other ILS the
symbols will be shown correct.
Dose anyboy have seen this before? Is there a solution for this Problem?
Thanks in advance, Bernd |

This is in the list as shown by NetMeeting?

There are a number of anomolies with the old (NT4 based) ILS and current
Netmeeting clients -- I don't remember exactly if what you are seeing is
one of them but probably.
I don't think there will be anything you can do (other than switching to
Win2000 and its ILS server).

ohoh :-) Hm...NT4-Server Licence can be buyed for round about 30 US$ Euros
at Ebay. A W2K Server costs 500 US$ or more. Thats the reason why i try it
with a NT4 Server.
There is a ils20-x86.exe for download in the Web. Is there any other
posibility (Backoffice?) to realize a ILS ?
Thanks, Bernd

The only downloadable ILS is for NT4
-http://www.microsoft.com/windows/NetMeeting/download/ils20x86.asp
( I assume you already have it though if you are running an ILS on NT4).
The Win2000 version is v3 I think -- I don't know of any source of
information on differences between the two.

There is no Microsoft based strategy that I know of.
Microsoft has chosen to retire NetMeeting -- Windows 2003 no longer has an
included ILS nor is there a downloadble version for Win2003.
There were various other LDAP servers (ILS protocol is LDAP) that were
adapted for ILS use for sale or in open source but I don't think many are
currently available though(you might be able to find some Linux based
server that can be adapted).
