Hi....apologies in advance if I am sending this to an inappropriate
group. If so perhaps you could send me to another? Here is my problem.
Just got a webcam and sent one to my daughter...want so much to see my
grandchildren in between visits! Our computers are XP, we have Windows
Messenger 4.7 installed...works fine but only very SMALL video image.
Can't seem to find a way to enlarge. Can someone help, or suggest an
upgrade? (when I "googled" the topic, I found something from a few
years ago with a similar question ...except he was using "MSN
Messenger", he was told a new verson of "MSN Messenger" was coming out
in which you could choose image size.) If I have Windows Messenger can
I/should I just install the latest version of MSN Messenger on this
same computer?...or could I cause a big problem? Should I just give up
on Microsoft software for video imaging, and find some other software?
Thanks so much for any help you can give!

microsoft.public.windowsxp.messenger
microsoft.public.msn.messenger

might be more appropriate

There is no way to enlarge with WM.

NetMeeting and Msn Messenger -- especially the new 7.0 -- currently in
beta but soon to be released would be better choices for video calling if
you want a bigger video image.

Even Msn Messenger 6.x (7.x is the one currently in beta) has a webcam
feature(different from the audio/video calling feature)that has a larger
image if all that is required is the video image (audio uses the standard
audio/video calling strategy)

Are you sure you have the bandwidth to support that size image in
transmission?

Yes.

No -- they should coexist. Many people run Msn Messenger and disable or
avoid using WM ( they can be used together but that can be confusing).

http://messenger.msn.com/Beta/Default.aspx is the location for downloading
the new beta -- it has been stable for some time (at least for most
people).

As I mentioned above software may not be your limiting factor.
