Can user chose B1 or B2 for data transmission in BRI interfa |
|
|
Hello!
I am using Cisco with BRI interface.
I have a clarification to be made regarding the usage of BRI
interfaces.
Question 1:-
Can a user configure saying that his data should always go through
B1 or B2 only.
Is there any command to specify it? I couldnt find any command to
select the Bearer channels.
I am using for data transmission over ISDN for backup purposes.
All I could do was enter
interface bri 0:0 subtree
configure isdn callednum, answer1, answer2 etc.
Or will user has choice only to specify he can use BRI interface for
64kpbs or 128kbps?
So that chosing BRI channels wont come into picture, and internal OS
will take care of chosing the B-channels?
Question 2:-
Can there be a scenario to use B1 & B2 seperately as two seperate
data channels?
To be more specific, can I configure two seperate bundles(say PPP)
over B1 & B2.
And pass seperate traffic over each B-channels??
Eagerly waiting for your reply,
Thanks in advance,
Srinivas |

You'll have to read the manual for your specific Cisco device to discover
that. You'll also have to discover whether the switch you're connected to
supports this, because not all switches do. It's not generally a good idea
to request a specific channel, because if the channel is busy or out of
service, your call will fail when otherwise it would succeed. Normally, you
let the switch select the B-channel.

Yes, this is common, but maybe your specific device doesn't support it.
