Contivity 1100 |
|
|
I have two contivity 1100's. I have set up VPN's between two locations. The
remote network cannot be seen by windows in network neighborhood. If I ping
the remote computers I get a response, and if I search for the computer by
name the system will find it, but when I reboot it is gone.
Is there a simple solution for this? |

Thats what I thinks too. Does anyone have a guess as to how to make it work?

What we've done is map drives to the remote servers. So, map drive X:
to \\server\c:\blah etc (backslashes may be forward slashes and vice versa).
The mappings persist between reboots, but will show as disconnected
until you click to open them, at which point they will be 'live'.

If the VPNs are on different subnets, put a domain controller on each
side of the link. They'll share browsing lists.
Netbios is passed over IP these days. I'm guessing it's the broadcasts
that aren't making it past (if they are on different subnets), or are
timing out before the answers come back.
