CTA-100 and TAPI |
|
|
I am trying to get some form of autodialing accomplished at my work.
Currently they are using a client/server installation of the Maximizer for
their CRM software package, and a Nortel MICS v6.0 PBX switch.
The way it works now is sales staff will search for clients and then
maunaully cold call them. I need to automate this process and have these
numbers dialed automatically. There are approx. 30 workstations now and
potentially will be 60 - 100 workstations so whatever solution is used it
has to be scalable.
I have seen the CTA-100 device for Nortel Phone systems but not exaclty sure
how this works. Our computers in our office are all equipped with a
Ethernet port obviously, but not a modem in each computer. I am trying to
get this done with the least amount of workstation modifications as
possible. Can someone please give me some suggestions for how to accomplish
this.

You are on the right path. I've used the CTA 100 on many installations -
works great - but I don't recall how many users they support in server mode.
I'd recommend that you call your Nortel vendor - they will be able to set
this up for you.

Hi, the CTA-100 Norstar Device will connect to your PC trought the serial
port in order to provide you TAPI services.
Each PC will require a CTA-100 (physical device).
Personnaly, if you need a lot of applications, I would look into the BCM
(Business Communications Manager) - Norstar IP brother. The BCM will allow
you to simply purchase LAN-CTE licences, install a driver on the PC and then
run the link between Maximazer and BCM. Pretty simple!!!
Good luck.

Re: CTA-100 and TAPI |

A few questions for you. First is the BCM and new phone switch or is it an
addon to what's already on my wall, MICS 6.0. I think it's a new phone
switch but from the literature that I have read it's not really clear.
Secondly, since getting a CTA device per computer seems to be my only
option, short of replacing switch with BCM (I Think) could you please tell
me why it would be better to go this route, CTA-100. A co-worker of mine
found a similar box that converts digital signal to analog tone so that you
can use the computer modem to dial the phone from within Maximizer.
Any help you could lend would be greatly appreciated.

Dialing out through the modem is a poor way of doing this - stick with the
proposed solutions.
Also, you can use a CTA 100 is server mode - you will only need one.
